More Music
New music performance and practice spaces for the Royal College of Music
The More Music courtyard project was a once in a lifetime opportunity to substantially expand the facilities for the world-renowned music conservatoire, The Royal College of Music (RCM). The scheme included the introduction of two new performance spaces, a dedicated home to the museum of music, audio recording facilities, additional music practice rooms, and other ancillary accommodation. The project required very careful attention to detail and experience in the acoustic design at every stage.
Close collaboration with the project team, led by John Simpson Architects, was a particularly necessary and rewarding experience. It is of no surprise, therefore that John and his team were awarded with a 2025 RIBA award. The project was also “commended” at the ANC 2020 awards.
Suono staff have been involved with RCM over several projects and for several years. We are therefore pleased to continue this relationship and are currently engaged on the further development of the Prince Consort Road campus.
What our clients say about us
The Courtyard Project is an outstanding success. The project team has delivered for us a world-class place for more music that will enable the RCM to deliver the very best music education in the world.
Related project and people
Tim enabled us to keep the college open at full capacity even throughout the noisiest periods of construction, and were critical in meeting our party wall obligations. Tim’s knowledge and expertise was invaluable at every stage.
Related project and people
Acoustic conditions around the new Courtyard project have met our requirements perfectly, and I cannot overstate the importance of Tim’s role in delivering this success. We much enjoyed working with Tim Street and the team from Cole Jarman.
